PGConf.EU 2025
PGConf.EU 2025 took place October 28–31, 2025 in Vienna, Austria. The annual European PostgreSQL Conference is the largest PostgreSQL community event in Europe, drawing attendees from over 40 countries.
Conference highlights
Keynote: PostgreSQL at 30 Bruce Momjian and Tom Lane delivered a joint keynote reflecting on three decades of PostgreSQL development — from the Postgres95 fork to the present, with an honest look at what the project still needs to improve in reliability, usability, and ecosystem maturity.
Talk highlights:
- Logical Replication in PostgreSQL 17 and Beyond — covering two-phase commit support, replication of sequences, and the remaining gaps for logical replication in heterogeneous environments
- pg_vector 0.8: HNSW Improvements and Sparse Vector Support — performance benchmarks and new index types for AI workloads
- Zero-Downtime Schema Changes at Scale — operational patterns for schema migrations without locking, using logical replication and shadow tables
- The New Autovacuum Observability in PG 17 — practical walkthrough of
pg_stat_ioand new vacuum-related metrics
Training workshops
The two pre-conference training days covered PostgreSQL administration fundamentals, query tuning, replication setup, and high-availability architecture. Workshops were fully booked with a waitlist.
2026 edition
PGConf.EU 2026 dates and location will be announced on the pgconf.eu website. The conference rotates between European cities each year.
