FOSDEM PGDay 2026 took place on January 30, 2026 in Brussels, Belgium — the day before FOSDEM, Europe’s largest open-source conference.

FOSDEM PGDay is an independent community event organized by volunteers from the PostgreSQL community. It is free to attend and consistently draws a highly technical audience of core contributors, extension developers, and production DBAs.

The event runs as a single track for a full day, with talks typically covering:

  • PostgreSQL internals and upcoming features in development
  • Performance research and benchmarking
  • Real-world deployment experiences at scale
  • Extension development and the ecosystem

Notable talks from 2026

  • The Road to PostgreSQL 18 — overview of major features in development, with a focus on the new connection slot management and OAuth 2.0 authentication work
  • Logical Replication at Scale — operational experience running logical replication across 200+ subscriber databases with schema evolution
  • pg_vector and pgai: Lessons from Production — vector search workloads on PostgreSQL, indexing strategies, and HNSW vs. IVFFlat at different dataset sizes
  • Vacuum Tuning in 2026 — new autovacuum observability in PostgreSQL 17/18 and practical guidance for high-write-throughput workloads
